Graubünden celebrates the caddies. Because if you were once a caddie, you were somebody. With the opening of the first Swiss golf course in St. Moritz in 1891, the people of Graubünden had the opportunity to earn an attractive additional income: caddies were part of the inventory of every golf course at the time. In Samedan, the local boys and girls used this to improve their pocket money. Even famous artists such as Giacometti and Segantini have carried golf bags for wealthy English guests, earning themselves a welcome extra income.
Today, caddies have disappeared from amateur sport. And it is precisely this caddie tradition that Graubünden is reviving in 2022: 13 Graubünden caddies will be on hand this golf season for lovers of the green sport in Graubünden. The Grisons caddies are not classic caddies, but rather popular figures. They also accompany the golfers off the golf course. How about a Tai Chi lesson after a successful putt on the green? Or who wouldn’t say yes to an introduction to ball fishing? And who wouldn’t want to learn the most important words in Romansh while teeing off? The Graubünden caddies reveal experiences and insider tips in Graubünden.
